Flor et Lavr is a creative association based on the pursuit of timeless beauty, tireless intellectual search. As a result, high craftsmanship of art and clothing garments are presented within the framework of the association's projects or under the eponymous brand.
We are looking for authenticity and virtuoso professionalism, inspired by the legacy of Russian history in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Veliky Novgorod, Kargopol, Vologda and Pskov. We are invariably attracted by the mysticism of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. The enchanting atmosphere and archaic symbolism of the ancient fairytale-like cities of Uzbekistan are reflected in the artistic language of the association.
Flor et Lavr Couture seeks to create items that will withstand the test of time. Each garment at the atelier is tailored individually. To embrace a more environmentally friendly option Flor et Lavr Couture prefers the use of antique fixtures and rare fabrics that are already made instead of manufacturing mounds of new materials. In keeping with the preservation of traditional craftsmanship Flor et Lavr Couture uses labor-intensive techniques such as Vologda lace-making and Krestets stitching. This process creates a bespoke elegance making every piece one of a kind.
The mood of the brand is filled with the avant-garde art of the early twentieth century, inspired by the lifestyle of its brightest representatives; heroes and events of the Russian Seasons by Sergei Diaghilev.
The works of dreamer photographers Julia Margaret Cameron, Edward Steichen, Brassai, Man Ray, Deborah Tourbeville and the mysterious images from the films of Andrei Tarkovsky inspire the visual codes of Flor et Lavr Couture.
The debut Flor et Lavr Couture collection was presented in July of 2019 in Paris.
Flor et Lavr Gallery is a comprehensive curatorial project whose mission is to promote recognized and emerging contemporary artists from the former Soviet bloc.
